Potilas viedään sellaiseen huoneeseen, jossa on ollut ruumiita ja asetetaan hän huoneen puolelle; parantaja asettuu huoneen ulkopuolelle. Potilas asettaa sairaan jäseneen ovenrakoon ja parantaja rupee sitä sulkemaan oven raossa. Sulkeminen toimitetaan yhdeksän kertaa. Joka kolmas kerta potilas kysyy parantajalta:
