SKVR textEnglish
Oli mulla muinoin musta koira,I once had a black dog,
Rakki rauvan karvanen,A hound with iron-gray fur,
Jolla oli suu seitsentä syltää,Whose mouth spanned seven fathoms,
Nenä kuutta kirvesvartta,A nose six axe-handles long,
Jonka turpa tulta iski,Whose snout struck sparks of fire,
Nenänvarsi valkeata.Its nose-bridge gleaming white.
