The archive’s description

Written by the editors of the SKVR type index and quoted as it stands, in Finnish.

Kokkovirsi aloittaa Vienassa (paikoin muuallakin pohjoisessa) Kihlonta- l. Käeniskuvirren. Kokkovirren alkusäkeissä kuvataan kokon lentoa morsiamen kotia kohti: Kokko lensi koillisesta/koilta ilmoin, koilta ilman, alta taivon, satasulka Saksanmaalta. Sulhasta verrataan runossa kokkolintuun, joka liitelee hitaasti linnan ikkunalle ja katselee tyttöjen parvesta parasta, kassapäistä kauneinta: juuri hänet kokko "kopristavi", "haamoavi". Kihlontavirsi jatkuu aiheella Mistä tiesi teukamoinen, jossa tulija kertoo mistä tiesi tulla, ja siitä jatkaa morsiamen väki vielä aiheella Laatikaamme piilopirtti.
