The archive’s description

Written by the editors of the SKVR type index and quoted as it stands, in Finnish.

Laulajan palkkapyynnöt (rahan, omaisuuden, juoman ja ruoan vaatimuksia) esiintyvät pitolauluissa (hää-, talkoo-, praasniekkavirret) sekä lyyrisissä laulajan ketjuissa.

§§§Johdantona usein aloitussäkeitä (Laulainsinpa, taitaisinpa) tai toteamus Laulajan laki kuluu, kuivaa; Nälkä meillä näin sanoo (VI 547, VII2 1522). Palkkapyyntöjen keskeisiä aiheita:

§§§1) raha: en rahatta laula - talari joka sanalta - neljin riunoin neitosilta, alttinoin akoilta jne.; - saisin enemmän rahaa kuin herrat hevosillaan (V, XIII; etenkin VII-alueella kehtolauluissa, Vienassa joskus häärunoissa, ks. Nousin tänä huomenessa;

§§§2) omaisuus: mies miekkoineen, ori satuloineen (vrt. Lohikäärme ja neito); hevonen, lehmä (III, praasniekkavirressä).

§§§3) juoma, ruoka: olutta, viinaa (jos ei, vien virteni viluun... VI, VII; jos saan tuopin joisin, toisin möisin V 19, 63, 74); rasvaa, mesiä, piiraita (I-II, VI-VII); joskus formula: Ei kumaja kuiva kulkku, henki rasvaton heläjä (vrt. >Ääni - vieno, pieni, sortunut);.

§§§4) Jokin muu: miiloi (II), lakki VII).
