The archive’s description

Written by the editors of the SKVR type index and quoted as it stands, in Finnish.

Laulajan kerskauksia runojensa paljoudesta. Yleiset johdantomuodot (Kyllä/Ohto/Vielä/Äijä on virsiä minulla...) esiintyvät alkusanoina myös muissa runorunsauden kerskauksissa. Tässä erilaisia, usein ketjuuntuvia jatkoja: virsiä kuin seinän hirsiä - kuin kuusessa käpyjä - viisi, kuusi virttä, sata sanaa (tämä ks. myös Aukaisen sanaisen arkun; >Olkoon sille, jääköön tälle) - viisi rekeä, kuusi kulia virsiä - viiden veljen, sisaren virret (III-IV) - vaikka veli tekisi veneen t. reen ja veisi virteni Venäjälle (III-IV; jatkona usein Venan tytöille virsiä). Joskus kerskaukset esitetään jos virsien laulaminen ei käy päinsä: - vaan en jouda laulamaan (ks. >Silloin laulan konsa joudan), - vaan virret on paikassa pahassa (V, VII, XIII, ks. Virret vilussa - pahassa paikassa) - vaan en saata sanella (I, II VII).
