What this shows

The thesaurus index groups Finnic lemmas into 25 semantic domains (e.g., Family & Kinship, Metals, Magic). Each domain has a pre-computed top-80 lemma list with an English gloss. Clicking a gloss in Column 2 drills into the full list of lemmas for that English keyword (which may include lemmas from neighbouring domains).

How to read it

• Column 1 — pick a semantic domain.
• Column 2 — the English glosses of the top lemmas in that domain. A bar behind each row is proportional to the lemma's count inside the domain's top-80.
• Column 3 — all Finnic lemmas for the selected keyword, with language and POS pills. Use the header filters to narrow by language or POS; use Export CSV to download the current slice.
• Highly polysemous keywords (such as little, golden, one, water) carry a ⚠ warning chip because they carry many meanings and may collapse words from multiple domains.

Caveats

• Only 36.8% of lemmas are assigned to a domain — the rest are either too rare or don't fit the seed taxonomy.
• Column 2 uses the domain's top-80 lemma list as its keyword source; very specific glosses may not appear.
• English gloss quality varies by lemma; some are literal AI translations.
