The archive’s description
Written by the editors of the SKVR type index and quoted as it stands, in Finnish.
Voionni pidettiin itsellä, hankittiin itselle tai anastettiin toiselta juhlapyhäöinä kirnuten. Emäntä toivoi hyvää rasvaista maitoa, itselleen voita ja muille vettä tai piimää ("Sulle vesi, mulle voi"; III, VI, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV). Voionnea loitsittiin myös voita myydessä (I, VI) sekä erilaisin sanoin kirnutessa. Kirnuaja pyysi apuun erilaisia auttajahahmoja, toivoi muidenkin voita kirnuunsa, sekä vauhditti kirnuamista erilaisin mielikuvin ("tuuli voita tuulemaan", "häränpäitä härkimeen"). Erilaisten varallisuuden kartuttajien, toisen onnea ryöstävien hahmojen ja voirunsautta koskevien uskomusten (X) osuus voionnen hankkimisperinteessä on merkittävä (ks. vertailuotsikot).
