About RunoVerse

RunoVerse brings the great Finnic runosong collections (SKVR, KR, JR, ERAB) into one free, non-commercial environment for reading, comparison, mapping and linguistic research. Alongside Estonian and Finnish, the corpora carry songs in Karelian, Olonets, Ludic, Votic and Izhorian, Seto songs, and traces of Veps and Sami. KR holds literary poems from written and printed sources. Among them are the epics: Elias Lönnrot’s Kalevala, which can be read line by line beside W. F. Kirby’s English translation, and Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald’s Kalevipoeg.
