The archive’s description

Written by the editors of the SKVR type index and quoted as it stands, in Finnish.

Kiven loukkaamaan tai vihoihin luetut loitsut ovat suhteellisen lyhyitä. Keskeinen elementti on kiven alkuperään viittaava puhuttelu, esim. "kivi kimmon, kammon poika, maan muna, pellon kakkara, Syöjättären sydänkäpynen, Maamottaren maksanpala". Kiveä voidaan myös pyytää viemään vihansa. Kipusanoissa esiintyvä kivi, johon kivut työnnetään, on myös tyypillinen. Etenkin Metsäsuomen ja Hämeen loitsuissa esiintyy usein myös ajatus kiven avaimista, joiden avulla loitsija pääsee käsiksi loitsiessa tarvittavaan tietoon.
