The archive’s description

Written by the editors of the SKVR type index and quoted as it stands, in Finnish.

Luonnehditaan "päättymättömäksi", "loppumattomaksi", "ympyriäiseksi" loruksi, runoksi, saduksi, lauluksi tai luvuksi, joka aina alkaa uudestaan. Joskus mainitaan, että se on sanottava yhdellä hengähdyksellä. Yleensä itse loru on kaikkialla samantyyppinen, vaikka yksityiskohdat muuntuvat.

Kytkennät muihin runoihin vaihtelevat. Esim. Vienassa ja Pohjois-Pohjanmaalla jatkona usein Pilvivene, Kannaksella Riu rau reporukka - taivaassa paimenessa, Inkerissä yhteytenä joskus orjuus (III 2209, 2352, IV 547, 1307, 2202, 2586, 2744, 2842, 3851 jne.). Joskus liittyy omenapuutammeen (VI 2072, IX2 303). Joskus käytetty loitsuna (nikotus VII 4018, pyssyn synty IV1 1366, "Lemmen synty" X1 1538, XIV 1597, "vanhan kansan isämeitän" XII 1301), joskus "kuurotuslukuna" (VIII 3430, 3434, 3435, 3438), "lymylukuna" (X1, 1511, 1512; vrt. Leikinalkajaislorut: Hiiri meni hinkan rakoon), kehtolaulu (X1 1518, 1537).
